SHADING EXERCISE: STUDENTS SHOWING THEIR FINISHED TISSUE TREES

GioiaARTISTS were asked to explore creating volume with shadow by using colored tissue to create the impression of volume in trees.  In this exercise the artists were asked to conside the effect of light and shadow on branches of a tree abd then shade the tissue to create volume. GioiaARTS Camp Councelor Felisa Jardio assits leaders and campers during class and leads outdoor games and activities.  Felisa puts the Gioia in GioiaARTS!!

TINY  DANCERS

GioiaARTS Art Camp Day 3 focused on creating armature with tin foil as a means of understanding the volume of human forms.  Learning to understand proportion and volume in 3D is a great aid in learning to translate proportion and volume when drawing in 2D.

GRID METHOD

Visiting instructure artist John Godfrey M. Dala led the GioiaARTISTS through a lesson on how to copy (scaleup or down) an image into a drawing using a grid method. By breaking down the subject or object into a series of very small drawings using shading techniques the GioiaARTISTS are able to transfer a photo image into a drawing.  Practice, practice, practice... makes artists!!
